6-Azido-6-deoxy-b-cyclodextrin is a complex carbohydrate. It is synthesized by the reaction of 6-azido-6-deoxyglucose with b-cyclodextrin, which forms an azide anhydride bond between the glucose and glucosyl units of the cyclodextrin. The product can be further modified by methylation, glycosylation, or carbamylation. 6-Azido-6-deoxybcyclodextrin has shown potential for use in click chemistry and as a fluoroquinolone receptor probe to study bacterial DNA gyrase.
