Product Information
Cellotetraitol is a carbohydrate that has been isolated from the fungus Penicillium. It is a white crystalline solid that can be synthesized by hydrolyzing cellulose to cellobiose and then heating this sugar with acetic anhydride in the presence of sodium hydroxide. Cellotetraitol has two isomers, one of which is more active than the other. The most active form of cellotetraitol can be obtained as a crystalline solid at room temperature and has an optimal pH of 5. Cellotetraitol can be used for the synthesis of polyacrylamide gels, which are used to separate carbohydrates according to their size and charge.
