Carboxymethyl-b-cyclodextrin sodium salt (CMCD) is a cyclodextrin with a carboxymethyl group on the C6 position. CMCD has been shown to inhibit the production of fatty acids in caco-2 cells, which may be due to its ability to bind and remove bile salts from the cell membrane. In addition, CMCD inhibits the growth of cryptococcus neoformans by binding to basic proteins and hemolytic activity. Carboxymethyl-b-cyclodextrin sodium salt has been shown to have analytical applications for chromatographic science and as a test sample in urine samples. It can be used as an excipient for test samples when analyzing for enantiomers or basic proteins in blood samples.
