Product Information
- CEBCD(2-Carboxyethyl)-b-cyclodextrin sodium salt
(2-Carboxyethyl)-b-cyclodextrin sodium (CD) is a water-soluble cyclodextrin that has been shown to have antifungal activity in vitro. It inhibits the growth of fungi by binding to lipoproteins and cholesterol, preventing their uptake into cells. CD also binds to DNA and RNA, inhibiting transcriptional regulation and protein synthesis. In addition, CD has an inhibitory effect on the cell cycle, which may be due to its ability to bind to proteins involved in the cell cycle machinery.
In vitro studies have shown that CD has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of human cancer cells such as colon carcinoma cells and melanoma cells. This drug also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which are thought to be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
