a-Cyclodextrin dihydrogen phosphate sodium salt is a synthetic carbohydrate that is used in the synthesis of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. It is a monomer that is modified with fluorine and phosphorus. The modification of a-cyclodextrin with fluorine increases its solubility in organic solvents, while the addition of phosphorus to this monomer makes it resistant to hydrolysis. The modification of cyclodextrins with methyl groups can produce complex carbohydrates, which are useful for glycosyltransferases or glycosidases. Click chemistry has been used to modify a-cyclodesxtrin with other molecules for use in high-throughput screening assays.
