Description

Ginsenoside Rf is a ginsenoside compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis. Ginsenoside Rf exhibits a matrix effect in tumor cells, which may be responsible for its anti-cancer activity. It also induces apoptosis in human monocytes and T lymphocytes as well as mouse colon carcinoma cells. Ginsenoside Rf inhibits the expression of Bcl-2 protein, which is an important regulator of apoptosis. The mechanism of action of Ginsenoside Rf has been elucidated using a mouse monoclonal antibody, which showed that it can bind to the response element on the promoter region of bcl-2 gene. Ginseng extract contains many different compounds including ginsenosides like ginsenoside Rf and RG3, with many different effects on cell proliferation and differentiation.
