Ginsenoside Re is a ginseng component that has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in rats. It has also been shown to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. Ginsenoside Re has also been shown to inhibit the ATPase activity of cyclase and cellular physiology, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. The effects of Ginsenoside Re on hepatic steatosis and ischemia-reperfusion injury are currently unknown. Ginsenoside Re inhibits the growth of various infectious organisms, such as Salmonella typhi and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It also inhibits the growth of tetrazolium dye, which is a colorless compound used in chemical assays to measure living cells.
