Ginsenoside Rg1 is a natural product derived from the seeds of Panax ginseng. It has been shown to inhibit DNA damage, which may be due to its ability to inhibit extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and protein kinase C (PKC). Ginsenoside Rg1 also has an anti-fibrotic effect and can protect nerve cells from death by inhibiting apoptosis. This compound has been shown to promote the growth of PC12 cells, which are cells that produce dopamine. Ginsenoside Rg1 has also been shown to have antifibrotic effects in clinical trials for patients with brain disease. In addition, it has been found that Ginsenoside Rg1 has a glucose-regulated protein and can improve glucose transport in the brain.
