Ginseng is a plant that belongs to the genus Panax. Ginsenoside Rg2 is a ginsenoside that can be found in the Radix Notoginseng and has been shown to have cardioprotective effects. It increases lipid metabolism, decreases inflammation, and promotes neuronal survival. Ginsenoside Rg2 also protects against oxidative damage by blocking the activation of inflammatory pathways such as toll-like receptor (TLR). In addition, Ginsenoside Rg2 has been shown to protect against brain injury caused by cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. The low-dose group did not show any signs of toxicity in the brain or other organs during the study, suggesting that it may be nontoxic even at high doses.
