Kanamycin A related Compound 1 is a bioactive molecule with antiviral activity. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activity of influenza virus neuraminidase, which is necessary for the release of virions from infected cells. Kanamycin A related Compound 1 inhibits an aspartate residue in the active site of influenza virus neuraminidase, leading to decreased virion production and increased viral aggregation at the cell surface.
