Manninotriose is a mannose-containing oligosaccharide that has been found to have high resistance against enzymes. This mannose-containing oligosaccharide can be used as a biomarker for the detection of activated macrophages in biological samples, such as serum and urine. It is also used as an activator of monoclonal antibodies, which are used in the diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. Manninotriose may act as a signal peptide for the activation of enzyme activities, such as glycosyl transferase reactions and caffeic acid hydrolase.
