Product Information
- Neomycin Sulfate EP Impurity A
Neamine is an antimicrobial agent that is a derivative of trifluoroacetic acid. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and minimal toxicity in a variety of animal models, including mice, rats, hamsters, and guinea pigs. Neamine is also not toxic to human cells. Neamine may be useful for the treatment of microbial infections in humans because it blocks bacterial protein synthesis by inhibiting the action of proteases, which are enzymes that cleave peptide bonds in proteins. Neamine also binds to toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on human epithelial cells, which may play a role in the treatment of bowel disease. Neamine has been shown to inhibit the activity of carbohydrate chemistry enzymes such as α-amylase and α-glucosidase.
