Polyphyllin D is a natural compound that induces apoptosis in cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of target enzymes such as polyphyllin, pro-apoptotic protein, and autophagy. Polyphyllin D also induces apoptosis by inducing an accumulation of reactive oxygen species. This compound has been shown to be effective against cancer tissues and squamous carcinoma cell lines.
