Product Information

Name:
Succinyl-β-cyclodextrin
Description:

Succinyl-b-cyclodextrin is a molecule that can be used for the detection of Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Succinyl-b-cyclodextrin is used in combination with other reagents to form a gel matrix that binds to the bacteria. This binding process creates a cavity within the gel matrix, which is then dried and heated to release the gas trapped inside. The gas released by this process can be detected using various methods, including infrared spectroscopy or ultraviolet spectroscopy. The enantiomers of succinyl-b-cyclodextrin are not able to bind to Borrelia burgdorferi, so they can be used as a control in these experiments.
