Product Information
- b-Cyclodextrin heneicosaacetateHeptakis-(2,3,6-tri-O-acetyl)-bCDPeracetylated-bCDb-Cyclodextrin peracetate
Tri-O-acetyl-b-cyclodextrin is a polymer that is used as a slow-release drug delivery system. It is made of three acetyl groups and one cyclodextrin molecule. When metformin hydrochloride, a common antihyperglycemic drug, is acylated with tri-O-acetyl-b-cyclodextrin, it becomes soluble in water and can be administered orally. The chemical stability of the compound has been demonstrated using various techniques including powder x-ray diffractometry, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance. Tri-O-acetyl-b-cyclodextrin is insoluble in water and therefore cannot be taken orally without modification.
