Description

Sodium deuteroxide is a sodium salt of the chemical compound hydrogen peroxide. It is a colorless, water-soluble solid with a molecular weight of 76.07 g/mol. It is used as an oxidizing agent in organic chemistry and has been shown to be more reactive than hydrogen peroxide. The activation energy for the reaction with sodium hydroxide is much lower than that for hydrogen peroxide and the reaction rate increases as temperature increases. The solubility of sodium deuteroxide in water decreases at low temperatures, which means that it can be stored at room temperature but not frozen or refrigerated. Sodium deuteroxide has been shown to react with monoamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, which may contribute to its pharmacokinetic properties.
