N-Methyllindcarpine is a member of the aporphine class of alkaloids, which are plant metabolites. It has been shown to have antibacterial and antifungal activity. N-Methyllindcarpine is also an anti-cancer agent that inhibits cell growth by inhibiting DNA synthesis and RNA transcription. This drug has been shown to be effective against S. aureus, but it is not active against other bacteria such as E. coli or Enterococcus faecalis.
