1,2-Dicyclopropylethan-1-one is a pharmaceutically active compound used in pharmaceutical preparations. It has two stereoisomers, which are mirror images of each other and cannot be superimposed. The formyl group is at the center of the molecule. 1,2-Dicyclopropylethan-1-one can exist as a thienyl, pyridyl, alkenyl or ketone derivative. This substance can be synthesized from cyclopropylmethyl chloride and hydrogen gas in the presence of naphthyl lithium or cycloalkyl magnesium bromide.
