Pyridine, 3-(2-methylpropyl)- is an alkaloid that is a member of the pyridine family. It is found in the bark of trees and has been used as a reagent for organic synthesis in the laboratory. Pyridine, 3-(2-methylpropyl)- has been shown to be a stereoisomeric form of norstenusine which is an alkaloid isolated from the Staphylinidae beetle. The coleoptera insect produces norstenusine as a defense against predation by other insects and mammals.
