Product Information
Ivangustin is a sesquiterpene lactone compound that has been shown to inhibit the activation of protein kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathways in cells. It has been used as a lead compound for the development of new cancer drugs. Ivangustin has also been shown to inhibit the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and to show cytotoxic activity against human hepatocellular carcinoma cells in vitro. Ivangustin's effect on these pathways may be related to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis. The pharmacokinetics of ivangustin have been studied in rats, dogs, and humans, showing that it is well absorbed orally and rapidly metabolized into active metabolites.
