Description:

Virgatic acid is a chinese herbal medicine that is extracted from the plant Angelicae Dahuricae. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in rats by inhibiting the release of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It also has a hypoglycemic effect, which may be due to its ability to inhibit alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase. Virgatic acid has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for treating inflammatory diseases such as arthritis. This compound has also been shown to have anticancer activity against human leukemia cell lines and was found to inhibit cell proliferation, stimulate apoptosis, and inhibit tumor growth in mice.
