Description:4²-Chlorodiazepam is an ester of 4-chloro-diazepam, which is a benzodiazepine. It has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential, voltage-dependent calcium channels, and intracellular Ca2+ levels in a variety of experimental models. This inhibition leads to decreased Ca2+ entry into the mitochondria and impaired mitochondrial functions. 4²-Chlorodiazepam has also been shown to have a protective effect on brain cells by inhibiting oxidative stress and protecting against glutamate toxicity.
