The drug has been shown to block the reuptake of neurotransmitters, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and tiagabine hydrochloride, by binding to the transporter type responsible for their uptake. 4-Chlorophenylhydrazine sulfate has also been shown to be effective against depression and anxiety disorders.
