DAD has been shown to inhibit the protease activity of a number of enzymes including matrix metalloproteinases such as MMP-2 and MMP-9. This compound has also been shown to bind to the VEGF receptor, which is expressed on a variety of tumor cells. DAD may be used for diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as other diseases involving angiogenesis or VEGF expression.
