Iron(III) i-propoxide is a chemical species that is reactive and can be found in ceramics, tetrahydrofuran, and other chemical species. Iron(III) i-propoxide has been shown to react with aldehydes to form polyols and morphologies through the process of pyrolysis. This compound has also been shown to have antibacterial properties against gram negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi,
Enterobacter cloacae, Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus. Iron(III) i-propoxide has also been shown to inhibit the growth of gram positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis and Clostridium perfringens.
