Description:
5-Ethyl-6-methyl-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-4(1H)-one is a chemical compound containing an iodide group and a nitrogen atom. Iodides can be formed by the iodocyclization of ethyl acetoacetate with ethyl iodide. The resulting 5-ethyl-6-methylpyrimidinecarboxylic acid can be converted to the desired product by treatment with potassium hydroxide in ethanol.
