• Description: Methyl 2-phenylethanecarboximidate hydrochloride is a dorzolamide hydrochloride prodrug that has been shown to have biological activity. It binds to the 2-adrenergic receptor and stimulates a conformational change in the receptor, leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels. Methyl 2-phenylethanecarboximidate hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the production of ICOTINIB HCl, an inhibitor of cell factor and cox-2. This drug also has been shown to have cardiac effects, including increasing heart rate and reducing the time interval between heartbeats. Methyl 2-phenylethanecarboximidate hydrochloride may be used as an optical sensor for measuring pH or as an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy agent for determining benzalkonium chloride concentrations.
