5-Phenyl-o-anisidine is a monomer that reacts with hydrochloric acid to form a diazonium salt. The reaction of 5-phenyl-o-anisidine with nitrite and hydrazine hydrochloride leads to the formation of aniline, which is then reacted with bisulfate to form phenylhydrazine. Phenylhydrazine can be used as a pesticide or in the manufacture of dyes.
