Sodium naphthalene-1-sulfinate is an additive that can be used in the synthesis of pyrazoles and sulfonyl derivatives. It is a reagent for the sulfonylation of aromatic substrates, including tosylates, sulfones, and sulfoxides. Sodium naphthalene-1-sulfinate is also used as a solvent in mediated reactions. The functionalities of this compound are its ability to yield peroxides through oxidation with air or hydrogen peroxide. This compound can also be used as a synlett reagent in an advanced approach to synthesize functionalized pyrazoles.
