Trans-deltamethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide that is used to control pests such as cockroaches, fleas, and ticks. It is typically applied to the skin of animals or humans to provide protection against insects. Trans-deltamethrin has been shown to be effective against a range of insect species at doses as low as 0.05 milligrams per square meter of skin. The structure of trans-deltamethrin consists of four chlorine atoms bonded to two cyclopropane rings and one cyano group. In addition, it has been found that trans-deltamethrin can be produced from the reaction between deltamethrin and a hydrogen halide in the presence of an alkali metal salt.
