Product Information
2,6-Diiodo-4-methylaniline (DIM) is a compound that can be synthesized to yield high yields. It has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier and accumulate in the brain. DIM has been shown to be effective in treating people with infantile seizures when given intravenously at a dose of 0.5mg/kg/day for 14 days, but it does not have any significant effects on adults. DIM is also used as a radioprotectant and an antiarrhythmic drug. The mechanism of action is unknown, but it may be due to its ability to block voltage gated sodium channels and prolonging the cardiac action potential duration with increased refractoriness. It also inhibits the transfer of electrons from NADH to molecular oxygen by reducing the electron flow through the respiratory chain, which prevents oxidative phosphorylation. This results in less ATP production and may cause fatigue or other side effects like nausea or headache
