Butoconazole nitrate is a nitrate salt of butoconazole. It is used as an antifungal agent to treat vaginal yeast infections. Butoconazole nitrate is supplied as a white crystalline powder that dissolves in water or alcohol. The thermal expansion coefficient (β) of butoconazole nitrate is 1.5 × 10-5 K−1, and the matrix effect (δ) is 1.8 × 10-4 K−1. This product has been shown to be effective against Candida glabrata, which may be due to its ability to inhibit enzyme activities in these fungi. Butoconazole nitrate also inhibits hydrogen tartrate reaction solutions, which may result from its ability to bind particle surfaces and reduce their reactivity with hydrogen ions.
