Product Information
- cyclohexane, 1-iodo-3-methyl-
The synthesis of 1-iodo-3-methylcyclohexane is reported. In this method, chloroamine reacts with transmetallation to form a terminal alkynyl halide. The terminal alkyne can be converted to an iodide by reaction with sodium iodide and then reacted with cyclohexene to produce the desired product. This synthesis is achieved by using a chiral ligand. The reaction mechanism for this process has been determined to be a concerted β-elimination followed by transmetallation.
