Description:
3-Epichromolaenide is a natural product and a pigment that can be extracted from the root of the Eupatorium chinense plant. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against a number of organisms, including bacteria, yeast and fungi. 3-Epichromolaenide inhibits cell growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. It binds to ribosomes in the cytoplasm and blocks the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome, preventing protein synthesis and leading to cell death.
