Description:2-Chloro-6-ethoxyquinoline (2C6EQ) is a heterocyclic anticancer drug that has been shown to have cytotoxic activity against cancer cells in vitro. The compound has been used as a starting point for the synthesis of novel anticancer agents. 2C6EQ is cytotoxic because it inhibits DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. It binds to the DNA molecule and stops the progression of the genetic code. This leads to cell death by apoptosis, or programmed cell death. 2C6EQ has been shown to be effective as part of chemotherapeutic regimens for breast cancer and prostate cancer, although it has not yet been approved for use in humans.
