Fenbuconazol is a fungicide that is used in agriculture and horticulture to control plant diseases caused by fungi. The compound belongs to the group of synthetic chemical fungicides. Fenbuconazol also has genotoxic effects, which are thought to be due to its ability to bind to DNA in bacterial cells, interfering with transcription and replication. Fenbuconazol is applied as a soil treatment or as a seed treatment for cereals, oilseed crops and other plants. It can inhibit the growth of many microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts and protozoa. The matrix effect may be due to its ability to interfere with cell membrane integrity.
