(S)-4-(4-Hydrazinobenzyl)-2-oxazolidinone hydrochloride is a diazonium salt that is used in organic chemistry as a substance to form an acetal. It reacts with hydrazine to form the diazonium salt, which can be isolated by adding water to the product mixture. The diazonium salt can then react with carbonyl compounds such as ketones or aldehydes to form the corresponding carbamate esters. This process is reversible, and the carbamate ester can be hydrolyzed back into a carbonyl compound and (S)-4-(4-hydrazinobenzyl)-2-oxazolidinone hydrochloride. Diazonium salts are also used in regulatory chemistry for their acidic properties.
