A1874 is a bifunctional inhibitor of the E3 ubiquitin ligases, which are enzymes that tag proteins for degradation by the proteasome. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting autophagy, and thus stabilizing protein levels. A1874 has also been shown to cause cell death in cancer cells and inhibit tumor growth in animals. This agent is a reactive agent that can cause DNA damage and induce tumor-specific apoptosis. The oxadiazole moiety is responsible for its cytotoxic properties.
