Product Information
1-Decarboxy-3-oxo-ceanothic acid is a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis. It has been shown to be cytotoxic in vitro against ovcar-3 cells, which are derived from a human ovarian carcinoma. The cytotoxicity is due to apoptosis induction, which is caused by the inhibition of protein synthesis and the activation of caspases. 1-Decarboxy-3-oxo-ceanothic acid has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties through its ability to induce apoptosis in mammalian cells. This compound has been shown to inhibit cycloheximide from binding to ribosomes, leading to an increase in the amount of proteins synthesized by cells.
