Product Information
2-(Methylsulfonyl)benzyl alcohol is a synthetic molecule that modulates bone resorption by selectively binding to estrogen receptors. It is an orally active, non-steroidal compound that can be used for the treatment of osteoporosis and other conditions associated with bone loss. 2-(Methylsulfonyl)benzyl alcohol has been shown to have a high affinity for estrogen receptors and may also inhibit the production of prostaglandins in the brain, which are involved in Alzheimer's disease. The structure-based drug design approach was employed for optimization of this molecule.
