Product Information

Name:
Sequosempervirin B
Description:

Sequosempervirin B is a chemical compound that is found in the seeds of the plant Sequoia sempervirens. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and to inhibit fatty acid synthesis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme complex. This compound also possesses antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 as well as hepatitis C virus. Sequosempervirin B can also inhibit the activity of epidermal growth factor and liver cells, which leads to healing effects on wounds. Sequosempervirin B inhibits protein synthesis by binding to mRNA molecules, thereby preventing protein translation. The chemical structure of this compound resembles that of fructus (fruit) extract and it has been shown to have a positive effect on the viability of tissue cultures.
