Product Information
Guanylate kinase 1 is a member of the guanylate kinase family. It is a protein that in humans encoded by the GMNK1 gene. Guanylate kinases catalyze the reversible transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to guanosine diphosphate (GDP). They are involved in regulating the balance between GTP and GDP in cells, which has been shown to be important for many cellular processes, including cell signaling, cytoskeletal remodeling and apoptosis. Guanylate kinase 1 is an inhibitor of receptor tyrosine kinases, with an IC50 value of 2 μM. It also has been shown to be able to activate L-type calcium channels at concentrations greater than 100 μM. The recombinant human guanylate kinase 1 used in this study was expressed in E. coli and purified using affinity chromatography.
