Product Information
- H-Asn-Ser-His-Phe-Pro-Ile-Cys-Ser-Tyr-Cys-Cys-Asn-Cys-Cys-Arg-Asn-Lys-Gly-Cys-Gly-Leu-Cys-Cys-Arg-Thr-OH Liver-Expressed Antimicrob ial Peptide (Crocodile) LEAP
A Crocodile peptide hormone consisting of the disulfide bonds: Cys7-Cys23, Cys10-Cys13, Cys11-Cys19, and Cys14-Cys22. Hepcidin is small peptide hormone that is produced in the liver and acts on the kidney to regulate iron levels. Hepcidin regulates iron uptake by binding to ferroportin, a protein found in cells of the gut lining. The regulation of iron levels by Hepcidin prevents excessive tissue damage. Hepcidin also demonstrates anti-microbial activity through reducing the amount of circulating iron that is available to pathogens.
