Transferrin is a glycoprotein that transports iron. It is the major iron-carrying protein in human blood plasma. Transferrin has been shown to bind to and activate Ligand, Receptor, and Ion channels. Transferrin also has an antibody against it, which is used as a research tool for identifying cells that have high concentrations of transferrin receptors. Transferrin is a recombinant protein with high purity, which can be used as an inhibitor or activator in many different types of experiments including cell biology, pharmacology, peptides, and other life science studies.
