Glucocheirolin is a quinone natural product that is isolated from the stem of the plant Sinalbin. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of epidermal growth and also induces apoptosis in cancer cells. In vitro, glucocheirolin inhibits the proliferation of K562 human leukemia cells. The cytotoxic activity may be due to its ability to bind to and inhibit the function of cellular receptor α. Glucocheirolin is not active against receptor cells or receptor β-adrenergic.
