Product Information
- Nickelous Diformate Dihydrate
Nickel formate is a nickel salt of formic acid. It is used in analytical chemistry as an electron microscope reagent to reveal reaction products and reaction mechanisms. Nickel formate is prepared by reacting diphenyl ether with nickel oxide in the presence of water. This reaction produces Ni(OH)2, which reacts with formic acid to produce nickel formate. The product has a particle size between 0.5-10 micrometres, with optical properties that are dependent on the hydroxyl group content and particle size distribution. It has been shown that the activation energies for dehydration and activation energies are greater than those of other metal formates.
