Description:
4-(Nonyloxy)benzoic acid is a ferroelectric liquid crystal with a melting point of about -10 degrees Celsius. It undergoes biotransformations that include hydrogen bonding, protonation and deprotonation, and is oxidized to benzylmalonic acid. This compound also has a strain at phase transition temperatures and can form neutral phosphoric esters. 4-(Nonyloxy)benzoic acid also displays intermolecular hydrogen bonding and fatty acid properties.
