Product Information
Balapiravir hydrochloride is an antibiotic that belongs to the family of natural products. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that has been shown to be effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It inhibits viral replication by binding to the RNA polymerase enzyme in the virus's ribonucleoprotein complex. Balapiravir hydrochloride is used as a treatment for fungal infections and malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. This drug also shows antiparasitic activity against Toxoplasma gondii, which may be due to its inhibition of protein synthesis. Balapiravir hydrochloride is made synthetically and has been shown to be active against many strains of bacteria resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
