Description:Locostatin is a small molecule that inhibits the activation of MAPKs by their upstream kinases, thereby suppressing the proliferation and inflammation of cells. Locostatin also suppresses collagen production in fibroblasts, which may be due to its inhibition of MAPK activation. In addition, locostatin inhibits lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial membrane potential in hepatic tissues. This drug has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of T-cells in vitro and to suppress the autoimmune response in animal models. Locostatin also has anti-tuberculosis activity and can be used for treatment of tuberculosis infection. It is not active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
