The binding of CB-7921220 to the catalytic site of cyclase prevents the conversion of ATP to cAMP, which leads to decreased levels of intracellular cAMP. The inhibition of this enzyme may lead to reduced inflammation, pain, and fever symptoms. CB-7921220 has been shown to inhibit both isoforms (alpha and beta) of adenylyl cyclase in vitro. This drug is a competitive inhibitor that binds only when ATP is present at high concentrations.
